Damaging and breaking down fat cells can be done through the process of fat freezing. It’s a painless procedure that allows your body to naturally flush out any damaged fat cells.
Fat freezing is the leading non-invasive fat loss treatment, designed to remove stubborn fat by safely freezing it away, leaving subtly contoured results.
There’s no need for anaesthetic and the skin’s barrier is not compromised, leaving you to continue with your normal daily routine knowing that you’ll be left with safe and natural results.
What happens during the Fat Freezing treatment?
Once comfortable, your target area (whether that’s thighs, arms, hips or stomach) is covered with a gel pad. An applicator is then used to expose the skin to cold temperatures, typically between -11 to +5°C. Due to the nature of the vacuum-like suction and sub-zero temperatures, patients can expect to feel quite chilly whilst experiencing some minor stretching sensations. After a short while this is replaced by numbness and you can sit back and relax whilst those fat cells are zapped away.
The suction process takes around 45 minutes and once complete, you can continue the rest of your day as normal. Your skin might feel slightly frosty due to the cold temperatures, but after a few minutes it will begin to thaw.
How does Fat Freezing work?
Fat freezing triggers and accelerates the body’s natural process of ‘apoptosis’. When fat cells are exposed to cold temperatures, they instantly die. Our body then recognises these dead cells and disposes of them naturally over time, leaving you with less fat.
Is there a follow up to Fat Freezing?
Over time, your body will naturally flush out the dead fat cells, with the help of your liver. This is why it is important to keep your water levels up for your body to do this properly, we advise drinking about two litres of water a day.
It’s also really important to keep an eye on your energy intake. Based on your weight, we will be able to discuss how much energy you need and how to keep track of it so that you are consuming less energy than your would burn on a daily basis.
Finally, it’s best to avoid alcohol, caffeine and reduce fat intake as these will make your liver work even harder to get rid of the dead fat cells, potentially limiting your results. The exact effectiveness may differ from person to person.
