Sick of diet and exercise not quite giving you the body you want? If you’re seeking to bust stubborn pockets of fat that don’t seem to be responding to your efforts, there are a lot of options open to you – and that can be confusing. With so many fat-loss treatments available, it’s difficult to know which one would be best for you.
Two of the trendiest treatments available right now are Lipofirm and Fat freezing. It’s understandable that these procedures have become so popular, as they’re not only highly effective but also non-invasive, whilst boasting little to no side effects or recovery time.
The two are different though – so which should you choose?
How does Lipofirm work?
Lipofirm combines TriLipo and Dynamic Muscle Activation (DMA) to stimulate and increase fat metabolism in the layers of fat beneath the skin.
TriLipo uses radio frequencies to heat the fat cells and trigger a natural bodily process called Lipolysis, which involves a natural release of fat from fat cells. Dynamic Muscle Activation (DMA) works to tone muscle and stimulate blood flow to boost lymphatic drainage (which helps get rid of fat).
The fat loss is accelerated when DMA causes muscles to “squeeze” the fat cells. The muscles then push the released fat away from the cell so the fat can be disposed of naturally in the same way it gets rid of other waste.
How does Fat Freezing work?
Fat freezing works in almost exactly the opposite way – instead of heating fat, fat cells are cooled to below freezing (fat freezes at a higher temperature than water so don’t worry – you won’t be frozen solid!) in order to kill fat cells so the body can get rid of them.
Fat freezing works on nearly any area of the body where there is a thick enough layer of fat to pinch between your fingers.
On the face of it, these two treatments couldn’t seem more different, but really, they can be pretty difficult to choose between. Let’s compare the two.
- The Procedure
Both Lipofirm and Fat freezing are pain-free and non-surgical – although Lipofirm is slightly more invasive due to using laser technology. Both procedures are unlikely to take more than 60 minutes.
- Treatment sites
Both treatments work well for multiple areas of the body, including the stomach, upper arms, thighs, love handles, and chin – and you can get Lipofirm facials too!

- Recovery time
Lipofirm and Fat freezing are both FDA approved and completely safe – boasting little to no side effects. In terms of recovery time, you’ll be back to normal right away after a fat freezing session, but Lipofirm may require a couple of days of downtime.
Both procedures have proven great results, although it’s important to note that you’ll be able to see some results from Lipofirm pretty instantly (you’ll keep seeing changes for up top 6 months) whereas fat freezing results take longer to see and sometimes take multiple treatments.
The results for both treatments are permanent, although do rely on a healthy lifestyle with a good diet and regular exercise.
Whilst fat freezing tends to run a little cheaper, it’s worth noting you’ll possibly need multiple treatments so it may work out more expensive.
